This is a Cristal de Flandre lidded candy dish.
Cristal de Flandre is a brand known for producing lead crystal glassware, often featuring intricate cut designs. The brand emphasizes the clarity and brilliance of its crystal, achieved through a high lead content. These pieces were popular for both decorative and functional use, adding a touch of elegance to households.
Lead crystal, like that produced by Cristal de Flandre, has a higher refractive index than standard glass, giving it a sparkling appearance. The diamond-cut pattern seen on this dish is a classic design element, enhancing its visual appeal. Such pieces were commonly used for serving candies, nuts, or as decorative trinket dishes.
