Design Technique:

Designed by the renowned glass maestro Colin Terris, this piece highlights a creative breakthrough for Caithness Glass. Terris developed standardized techniques to repeatedly execute complex, abstract forms. The internal floral shape is crafted using a meticulous controlled bubble technique. Thousands of microscopic air bubbles are carefully trapped inside the clear core to form the textured white petals. The contrast is finalized by chemical acid-etching or sandblasting the outer dome to form a soft, satin frosted shell everywhere except for the polished clear viewing window at the crown.
