This elegant 10.5-inch O.&E.G. (Oscar & Edgar Gutherz) Royal Austria porcelain ewer is one of those pieces.

Produced during the height of the Art Nouveau movement (circa 1899–1918), it features an uncommon metallic gold-luster finish with beautifully etched botanical decoration depicting graceful stylized calla lilies and flowering branches. The elongated silhouette, sweeping handle, and flowing floral motif embody the organic elegance that made Art Nouveau one of history’s most celebrated design movements.

Despite extensive research, I have not been able to locate another example with this exact mold number (2099) and decoration, making this an intriguing and potentially uncommon variation for collectors of Austrian porcelain.

Whether displayed in a curio cabinet, alongside Art Nouveau décor, or added to a Royal Austria collection, this piece has a sophisticated presence that immediately draws the eye.

Condition

Very good antique condition structurally with no chips or cracks observed.

The gold-luster finish shows noticeable wear, rubbing, and areas of finish loss consistent with its age and over 100 years of careful use and display. These signs of age do not detract from its striking decorative appeal and are reflected in the photographs.
