It is signed in Jawi Script the distinctive cursive letters read "کلنتن" (Kelantan) in Jawi—an Arabic script traditionally used to write the Malay language. Kelantan is a state on the east coast of Malaysia renowned globally for its highly detailed, traditional hand-carved silver craft. These mid-century Malay artisan pieces were individually handcrafted not mass produced. This piece features carved ebony or buffalo horn details which is rarer than the all silver tie bars.
