Approximately 2.75” x 4” x 3.25” No chips or cracks. Uranium glass glow using a blacklight. Hand painted and signed by S. Hart. Description from Fenton’s Burmese glass informational card: “This lovely glass treatment was patented in 1885 by Frederick Shirley and was made at the Mt. Washington Glass Company in New Bedford, Massachusetts. Produced between 1885 and 1900, Burmese takes its name from a splendid story. As the legend goes, Queen Victoria, upon receipt of a gift of this glass, exclaimed that the rich tones of blushing pink reminded her of a Burmese sunset. Enamored with the soft translucent beauty of Burmese, Fenton Glass chemist Charles W. Goe experimented with pure gold and a variety of chemical variations over a period of many years until he found just the right formula to faithfully reproduce the delicate blushing loveliness of the original Burmese treatment.”
