F. P. Nodder - “The Magnificent Cockatoo” Original Hand colored Print - 1790

London: F. P. Nodder & Co., 1790. Engraving from The Naturalist's Miscellany by George Shaw. The Naturalist's Miscellany consists of twenty-two volumes published between 1789 - 1813, and illustrated by Frederick Polydore Nodder. The Magnificent Cockatoo is shown with characteristic red horizontal tail stripes. The hand colored engraving measures 5" x 8" at the plate marks, and 11.5” by 8” framed. The paper is lightly and evenly toned. There are spots of foxing in a few areas, shown in the second photo, and rippling at the lower left. It has not been examined out of the frame. This copy dated is 1790 on Whatman paper. It is framed with a French mat and is ready to hang.
