This is a genuine antique, Victorian-era glass-domed horse bridle rosette that was originally used on a driving harness. It features a classic, detailed profile portrait of a horse's head underneath a thick, heavy "bubble glass" dome that beautifully magnifies the image. The glass insert is securely set within its original circular brass rim.Condition & Conversion Details:History: The front glass and brass setting are authentically antique (late 1800s to early 1900s).The Conversion: In the mid-to-late 20th century, this piece was professionally converted into a wearable brooch. The original, bulky metal harness loop on the back was removed, and a standard silver-toned safety bar pin was soldered onto the brass backing.Wear: The back shows minor, expected oxidation and solder residue from the conversion process. The front graphic shows a beautiful, warm, naturally aged patina with some darkening and fading to the lithograph print, giving it an authentic vintage character. The glass dome is smooth and intact.
