#1447 Vintage Tremar pottery folk art lion figurine.
2” tall. No chips or cracks. Tremar Pottery was a studio pottery founded in Cornwall, England, in 1969 by the potter Michael Cardew. It was later taken over by his son, Seth Cardew, and continued to produce distinctive stoneware pieces, often featuring whimsical animal designs and bold glazes. The studio became known for its accessible yet well-crafted ceramics, popular among collectors of British studio pottery. This particular lion figure exemplifies the folk art aesthetic often found in Tremar's output. The stylized representation, combined with the earthy glazes and hand-painted details, gives it a charming and rustic appeal. Pieces like these were produced throughout the latter half of the 20th century and are sought after by those who appreciate studio pottery with a playful and characterful design.
