#1612 Limoges Havilland Porcelain Covered Soup Bowl 3 Piece Set France
6 x 4 inch No chips or cracks The covered soup bowl, also known as a pbouillon cup or cream soup bowl, gained popularity in the 18th century among European aristocracy. These elegant vessels were designed to serve soups and broths as a first course during formal dinners. The covers helped to keep the soup warm, while the accompanying saucer protected the table from spills. Floral patterns, like the one seen on this piece, were a common decorative motif in porcelain production during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The delicate blue flowers and gold trim suggest a refined aesthetic, typical of porcelain made for upper-class households. The presence of handles on the bowl also indicates that it was intended for individual use, rather than being part of a larger tureen set.
