#1015 ENGLAND Susie Cooper Art Deco Tea Coffee Pot 4 demitasse cup saucer set Floral Pattern
This is an exciting Susie Cooper, 9 piece set by one of Britain’s most re-known ceramicists and dinnerware designers. Pretty Floral and Blue line/dot Tea/Coffee set with kestrel pot, 4 demitasse cups and 4 saucers. Good with no chips, cracks or repairs has some crazing as most of these pieces do, but nothing that takes away from the pattern or look. Created in 1940s in an era of flowery and whimsical patterns of which Susie Cooper was the most sought after and still is to this day for her iconic patterns. This pattern is predominately featured in the most important books on Susie Copper and 20th Century Ceramic designers. With the important Kestrel coffee pot! Today, one usually finds a single cup, a jug or plate at auction. but here is a stunning set of complete tea/coffee set with 4 cups, saucers. A few pieces have slight crazing, some have some shading from 'hand painting' but this is a wonderful find for a collector for a display to be envied or for the pleasure of its day to day use! (Please don't ever put antique, vintage ceramics in the dishwasher though!) Susie Cooper is famous for introducing vivid colors and avant garde designs to English Pottery and this is one of the finest and most collectable. Her career, highly documented in many books on Art Deco and Ceramics spanned more than 60 years, including her Deco Era work at Crown Pottery in Burslem in the 30s through the 60s and 70s as a master designer at Wedgwood China. Highly collectible. Measurements: Tea/coffee pot is 7 inch tall Demitasse cup 2 inch tall Saucer 4.75 inch diameter Tea pot lid has a unique "locking" mechanism. Be gentle as you work it out. Slide one nub under lid out of slot first, twist lid to 2nd nub and slide that one out of slot.
