5” x 7” No chips or cracks Carnival glass, also known as iridescent glass, was popular in the early 20th century, particularly from around 1907 to 1925. It was made by applying a metallic salt solution to molten glass, which then created the distinctive shimmering, rainbow-like surface after firing. This technique allowed for the mass production of decorative glassware that mimicked more expensive cut glass. L.E. Smith Glass Company, founded in 1907 in Thomas, West Virginia, was a prominent manufacturer of carnival glass. They produced a wide array of patterns and colors, with their "Ruby" iridescent pieces being particularly sought after. The "Quintec" pattern, with its starbursts and geometric designs, is one of their recognizable motifs, often found on bowls, vases, and other tableware.
