#0426 Pair of vintage apricot or Pink glass salt cellars with pressed patterns Sowerby UK
2” diameter No chips or cracks Glassware in shades of pink, cranberry, and apricot became popular in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, often produced by British manufacturers like Sowerby. These colors were achieved through the addition of gold or selenium to the glass mixture, creating a warm, inviting aesthetic. Such small glass dishes were commonly used as salt cellars, individual butter dishes, or for holding other small condiments on a dining table. Sowerby, based in Gateshead, England, was a prominent producer of decorative pressed glass from the mid-19th century through the mid-20th century. They were known for their wide range of colored glass items, including tableware, decorative objects, and lighting. The intricate pressed patterns, like the starburst seen here, were a hallmark of their production, allowing for mass production of aesthetically pleasing items.
